–Layet Johnson and Haynes Riley
Haynes Riley was born and raised in North Little Rock, Arkansas. He received an MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art in 2011 and a BFA from Savannah College of Art and Design in 2006. In 2012, he was a Fall Artist-in-Residence at Ox-Bow School of Art in Saugatuck, Michigan. He has exhibited nationally in Michigan, Illinois, New York, Georgia, and Arkansas, and internationally in France, Spain, and Taiwan. Currently, he is a lecturer at University of Michigan’s Penny W. Stamps School of Art & Design in Ann Arbor. He is founder and director of Good Weather (www.goodweathergallery.com) a contemporary art gallery in North Little Rock, Arkansas. He lives and works in Detroit, Michigan.
Layet Johnson is from Little Rock, Arkansas, and received an MFA from The University of Georgia Lamar Dodd School of Art in 2011 and a Bachelor of Arts from Hendrix College in 2008. Since 2011, Johnson has attended 5 Artist-in-Residencies, including the Vermont Studio Center and the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts. He has exhibited in 5 states nationally, with a recent solo exhibition in Lawrence, Kansas, at the Invisible Hand Gallery, as well as in group shows in New York, at White Box Gallery, and in Bentonville, Arkansas, at 21 C Museum/Hotel. In the January 2012 issue of Modern Painters, Johnson was named one of the 20 feature artists of “100 Artists to Watch.”
